New Tax Payment Options Available!

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has announced new ways to make your tax payments in Sri Lanka. This is according to a recent gazette notification issued by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue.

Here’s a breakdown of the new options available to you:

  • Cash Deposits: You can still visit a designated bank and make a cash deposit for your tax payment.
  • Pay Orders or Bank Drafts: Payments can now be made using pay orders or bank drafts addressed to the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue.
  • Online Tax Payment Platform (OTPP): This is a new and convenient option that allows you to pay your taxes electronically using your bank account.

For more information on the OTPP platform, including a list of participating banks and any specific instructions for online payments, visit the IRD website at www.ird.gov.lk.

This notification comes into effect as of April 4, 2024. The IRD aims to streamline the tax payment process and offer taxpayers more flexibility.

Remember, paying your taxes is crucial for the development of our nation. If you have any questions about your tax obligations or these new payment methods, don’t hesitate to contact the IRD for further assistance.
